Excel Waterfit |
This program is specifically designed for individuals experiencing limited mobility due to conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, obesity, joint replacement, flexibility impairment, and other physical limitations. Excel Waterfit is an excellent option for pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation, stroke recovery, and managing various medical conditions. By leveraging the natural support and resistance of water, this gentle, non-impact program aims to enhance your fitness level. Participants will benefit from improved core stability, coordination, muscular strength, balance, and mobility, all while fostering a greater sense of personal well-being. |
Aqua Jogging |
No running shoes required! Aqua-jogging is not only a well-regarded rehabilitation exercise for injured athletes but also a highly effective aquatic workout on its own. This program offers a fantastic way to enhance cardiovascular capacity, muscle tone, and range of motion while minimizing joint stress typically associated with traditional land running. Ideal for those looking to advance from our Excel Waterfit program, aqua-jogging provides a challenging yet low-impact fitness option. Participants must be comfortable in the deep end of the pool and will use a flotation belt for support. |
Aqua Boot Camp |
This dynamic program offers a unique opportunity to enhance muscle strength and endurance through water resistance. Participants will benefit from a versatile workout that can be conducted in both shallow and deep sections of the pool and may occasionally include swimming lengths of the pool. Join us to experience a challenging and effective exercise regimen that leverages the natural resistance of water to deliver outstanding results. |
Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by a guardian 16 years of age or older while at the Nick Smith Centre, unless the program is designated to be a parent-free program (example: youth nights or day camp). A guardian must remain present for programs such as swimming lessons or drop-in activities such as public swimming or public skating.
Aquatic Admission Standards |
Non-swimmers aged 10 and under and all children aged 5 and under must be accompanied by a participating guardian at least 16 years of age who is responsible for the direct supervision of the child and always swimming within arm’s reach. Children aged 6 to 10 must be tested to demonstrate their ability to swim 25 meters uninterrupted to be permitted to swim unaccompanied.
For increased safety in our aquatic facility, all children who participate in the following sanctioned programs who wish to swim in the deep end, must complete a brief swim test prior to entering the deep end of our pool.
Children that successfully complete the test will be given a wristband to wear. Only those children with a wristband are allowed to swim in the deep end.
