The Town’s Auditors, KPMG, provided an overview of the draft Financial Statements and reported that there were no concerns with the Town’s Statements as prepared.
Council approved the allocation of $1,478,349.00 in surplus funds from the 2022 fiscal year. These funds will cover shortfalls on 2023 capital projects, increase Development Charges Reserves to start addressing the impacts of Bill 23 and build various reserves to support future operating and capital needs.
Council awarded two tenders related to 2023 Road Projects which will be completed over the coming months.
The 2023 Rolling Road Rehabilitation projects will cover the replacement of the sidewalk, curb and road surface on Cranston Street Smolkin Street, Maple Drive and Gardner Street. The successful bidder was R.W. Tomlinson Limited for a cost of $1,755,029.24 including HST.
This project will re-align the Daniel Street (County Road No.2), Edey Street and Galvin Street to create a four-way intersection to provide operational and safety improvements for pedestrians and motorists. The successful bidder was Goldie Mohr Ltd for a cost of $2,150,059.36 including HST. The County of Renfrew are contributing $684,356.96 as a partner for this important project.
This project will also involve the replacement of the culvert under Edey Street. To permit this work to occur, Council authorized staff to proceed with declaring an unused portion of the Edey Street road allowance as surplus lands and to dispose of them through a land exchange with the neighbouring property owner. This item will be further discussed at the May 23rd, 2023 Regular Meeting of Council.
Town Council received an informational report on the draft Plan of Subdivision which proposes to develop the property as a residential subdivision with 11 blocks of townhouse units, totaling 55 townhouse dwelling units. A public meeting will be held on May 23rd, 2023 to receive public comments on this project.
