Town staff encourages the planting of trees and other vegetation that are native to Ontario. See below for some suggestions. This list is not exclusive, the Town encourages residents to research further prior to planting anything.

Native Trees and Other Vegetation That Can Be Planted

Along streets and within road allowances:

Acer rubrum – Red Maple
Acer saccharum – Sugar Maple
Gleditsia triacanthos – Honey Locust
Quercus macrocarpa – Pin Oak

Areas that small trees are desirable

Amelanchier spp. – Service berry
Celtis occidentalis – Hackberry
Malus spp. – Crabapple
Syringa reticulate – Japanese lilac

Parks and in areas that large trees are desirable
