Food Cycle Science provided Council with a presentation on their food waste recycling system and a proposed subsidized program for residents to purchase Foodcyclers. Council requested that staff return with a report outlining options for a program before budget deliberations.
Recreation staff provided Council with a presentation outlining new and returning recreation programming opportunities. Staff highlighted a new JumpStart funded program, the new Youth Club, a program that is designed to remove financial and physical barriers to participating in recreational programs through an affordable membership. Council approved a new Public Awareness Campaign to assist in ensuring mandatory smoke alarms are installed and functioning properly. The public is invited to call or use an online form to book an inspection. Council approved a request from the 2360 Royal Canadian Army Cadets to provide in-kind support through waiving of rental fees for the Nick Smith Centre for (35) dates and for (2) weekends this fall (value $4900.00).
Council proclaimed September 28th, 2023 as Test Your Smoke Alarm Day in the Town of Arnprior. With the campaign slogan “Saved by the Beep”, all Ontarians are encouraged to learn more about smoke alarms, fire safety, and home fire escape planning.

Council proclaimed October 8th-14th, 2023 as Fire Prevention Week in the Town of Arnprior. The 2023 Fire Prevention Week theme, “Cooking safety starts with YOU. Pay attention to fire prevention”, works to educate everyone about simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe when cooking.
