On Monday, November 21st, 2022, the Town of Arnprior held its inaugural meeting for the members of the 2022-2026 Council team. Elected in late October 2022, they will serve as our Town Council for the next four years.
Your 2022-2026 Members of Council are:
The meeting began with a formal procession, led by piper Bob Smith and members of the Arnprior Fire Department. Paula Rich-McGowan led attendees in the signing of our national anthem, O Canada. The Declaration of Office was administered by Town Clerk Maureen Spratt.
Mayor Lisa McGee marked the first meeting of this Term of Council by delivering her first keynote inaugural address as Mayor to the assembled Members of Council, staff and members of the public.
In her address, she stated that “tonight starts a new chapter, and I could not be more optimistic about the four years ahead of us … Arnprior is growing and has many members from diverse backgrounds, with unique interests and points of view. The willingness of this Council to reach across gaps of difference, to find common ground and common purpose: that will be one of our greatest strengths.”
She also reflected on the term ahead, noting that “together, we will create a strategic plan to be proud of, navigate changes to the waterfront, manage the needs of residents during this time of unprecedented growth and always remember who we are working for.”
We would also like to recognize the contributions and service of outgoing members of the 2018-2022 Council team. Walter Stack and Ted Strike were long-serving Members of Council and brought tremendous leadership, knowledge and passion to their roles over their combined thirty-five (35) years at the Council table. The 2018-2022 Council team accomplished many key projects over their tenure and also shepherded Arnprior through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are grateful for their commitment, dedication and hard work over the last four years and wish them all the best.
