The County of Renfrew has declared a Significant Weather Event on County roads in advance of the upcoming storm that will impact travel and services throughout the municipality.
Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Watch related to an impactful winter storm that is set to begin Tuesday afternoon (Tuesday, January 9th, 2024) and continue into Wednesday morning (Wednesday, January 10, 2024). This winter storm is forecasted to bring upwards of fifteen (15) to thirty (30) centimetres of snow, high wind gusts of up to 50 kilometres per hour and the risk of freezing rain and/or ice pellets.
In preparation for the upcoming winter event, this is just a friendly reminder to stay safe while driving during the winter storm and to give our snowplow operators room to work. Our Operations staff are ready to carry out winter control operations so please leave municipal streets clear of vehicles and be mindful of snowplows while on the roads.

Fire Safety During Winter Storms |
Winter storms can happen almost anywhere. They can cause us problems. Know what to do before, during and after a storm. This will help keep you and your family safe from a winter fire.
There are more home fires in winter than in any other season. Half of all home heating fires happen in December, January and February. As you stay cozy and warm this winter season, be fire smart! Nearly half of all space heater fires involve electric space heaters. Do you have a 72-hour emergency kit? Ensure your devices are charged and flashlights have working batteries.
