Waste Reduction Week Halloween Upcycle Challenge

The Town of Arnprior Waste Reduction Week Halloween Upcycle Challenge aims to celebrate Waste Reduction Week by recognizing residents who demonstrate creative ways to upcycle waste in their homes.

This year, the Town of Arnprior invites residents to submit a photo of their best upcycled Halloween decoration. In an effort to reduce waste headed to the landfill, the Town is looking for creative Halloween decorations that use waste materials (see example materials below). You could make a garland with empty chip bags, or maybe paint festive drinking glasses, the possibilities are endless!

Contest opens on October 18th, 2024. To be included in the competition, applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. on October 27th, 2024.

Contest Info:

1. Entry participants must be residents of the Town of Arnprior
2. Applications will be accepted starting October 18th, 2024
3. Entry Deadline:  October 27th, 2024 @ 4:00pm
4. Top three submissions are selected by Town staff (CAO and Operations Department)
5. Winners will be notified on or before October 31st, 2024
6. Judging Criteria (i.e. best use of waste materials for upcycling, creativity, theme)
7. Prizes for top three winners:
   • Family Swim/Skate Pass for the Nick Smith Centre (valid for one family, up to five people, to attend a public skate or public swim at the Nick Smith Centre before December 31st, 2025).

• Wood
• Hardcover novels
• Drinking glasses
• Ceramics
• Window panes
• Mirrors
• Plastic light covers
• Molded plastics
• Plastic film from cereal/cookie containers
• Chip bags
