The Town of Arnprior receives Government of Canada support through My Main Street Community Activator Placemaking Program
June 8, 2022 – Arnprior, ON – The Town of Arnprior is pleased to announce that our cultural night market was selected for the My Main Street Community Activator program and has received $38,350 to host a multi-cultural night market that will feature food vendors and artisans from various ethnicities creating an opportunity for attendees to become more acquainted with neighbours and the diverse cultural backgrounds they come from.
Through the Government of Canada’s My Main Street Community Activator, delivered by the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI), the Town of Arnprior will enjoy a more vibrant neighbourhood setting that will draw visitors and increase foot traffic to shops, restaurants and exciting new public spaces. The Town of Arnprior is supported by My Main Street—a two-year, $23.25-million investment by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), delivered by CUI and the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO).
The Town of Arnprior will host this event to provide a welcome space for all members of the community and visitors to participate in an evening of food, film, art and music and to celebrate the diversity of the community.
The night market will be held in the historic downtown. Its streets will be closed to house various food vendors, artisans, art activations and performances. The area will be populated with art installations and placemaking modular seating in the hopes of reigniting the traditions of community gatherings. A centralized stage will provide a platform for musicians and storytellers from a variety of backgrounds to showcase their talents.
The night market will take place Saturday, August 27, 2022. As programming is finalized more details will be shared. Information on Town of Arnprior events can be found at www.arnprior.ca/events
