Following public consultations (Dec 7, 2022), tabling of the budget (Jan 9, 2023) and budget deliberations (Feb 6, 2023), Arnprior Council approved its 2023 Budget at the February 13, 2023 Regular Meeting of Council.
Mayor Lisa McGee stated “Deciding how to spend tax dollars is one of the hardest things we will do as a Council. This budget provides for continuous infrastructure renewal, has a solid operating budget for service delivery, addresses growth and helps us meet our goals for long term planning and reserves.”
The Town’s strong commitment to our “pay-as-you-go” financial model has allowed the 2023 Budget to be adopted with a modest 3.0% municipal tax rate increase. This increase supports and additional $100,000 of funding for the Town’s Rolling Road Rehabilitation program, with a dedicated focus on improving local roads and sidewalks. The budget also supports an additional contribution to reserves of $602,644 to help the Town’s strategic goal of meeting future asset management targets and achieving long-term fiscal sustainability.
The Town continues to invest in the community with over $470K in community grants including $50,000 towards the fundraising efforts for a new CT Scanner for the Arnprior Regional Hospital. Other community support grants are provided for the Arnprior Public Library, Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives, Arnprior Airport, Physician Recruitment and the Seniors Active Living Centre.
Asset management and infrastructure renewal remains a strong commitment with over $7.0M in capital investment. Capital budget highlights include:
