Town of Arnprior 2022 Budget Approved

Arnprior, ON. Following public consultations in December 2021, and budget deliberations last week, Arnprior Council approved its 2022 Budget on Monday, February 14^th. The Town’s strong commitment to the “pay-as-you-go” financial model and efficient operations has allowed the 2022 Budget to be adopted with a 0% municipal tax rate increase. The budget accomplishes the task of addressing pandemic related costs and growth pressures while still providing a significant capital program for infrastructure renewal and contributing an additional $670K to reserves for future investment.  

The Town continues to invest in the community with over $500K in community grants including funding for the Arnprior Public Library, Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives, Arnprior Airport, Grove Redevelopment and the Seniors Active Living Centre.   

Asset management and infrastructure renewal remains a strong commitment with over $6.0M in capital investment.  Capital budget highlights include:

• Craig Street Reconstruction – William St W to Mary St ($1,600,000)
• Hugh Street Reconstruction – William St W to dead end ($1,800,000)
• Roof Replacements – Nick Smith Centre ($415,000)
• Dehumidification Upgrades – Nick Smith Centre ($330,000)
• Loader with Plow and Wing ($270,000)
• Columbaria Installation – Malloch Road Cemetery ($80,000)
• Waterfront Redevelopment Design - Pathway surfacing, lighting ($79,000)
• Transportation / Pedestrian Master Plan ($75,000)

To my Council Colleagues for their efforts in the budget process and their support for the motion to adopt a 0% tax increase for the coming year, as well as for recognizing our ratepayers are facing economic challenges with all costs rising dramatically after two years of a Covid Pandemic.”
