Scam Alert – Text and Email Reminders

The Town has received reports of residents receiving text and email messages claiming to be the Town of Arnprior contacting residents regarding unpaid parking tickets. If you receive a text message or email like this, please do not engage with the sender or click on any links.

To find out if you have a parking ticket that remains payable to the Town of Arnprior, contact us by telephone at (613) 623-4231 ext. 1819 or by email at clerks@arnprior.ca. The Town will only communicate regarding unpaid parking tickets via letter to the registered address of the offending plateholder as per the Ontario Ministry of Transportation database.

This is a good reminder that if you get an unsolicited phone call, email or text message asking you to click a link or open an attachment, don’t do it. If unsure, research the contact information for the company and reach out directly to them. Don’t use the contact information provided in the message.

Scams and cybercrimes can happen to anyone, anywhere, and at any time. If you have been a victim of a scam, fraud or cybercrime, please contact your local police as soon as possible. It is also recommended that you report the instance of a scam, fraud or cybercrime, whether you are a victim or not, to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
