Recreation Program and Facility Update
Following Thursday's announcement from the Provincial Government, we are pleased that the Nick Smith Centre will re-open to the public on Monday, January 31, 2022. This first stage of the Province's re-opening plan will see the facility operate at 50% capacity, however this will have minimal impact our our Town run programming.
Winter Program Registration Update
- Programs will be available to view online on Monday, January 24, 2022
- Online Registration will open online on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 9:30 a.m.
- Programs Include: Swimming Lessons (Children and Adults), PA Day Camp, Aquatic Fitness Programs, Pilates, Yogalates, Seniors Strength Class, Functional Fitness, Lunchtime Strength Class, Pickleball, Early Morning Strength and Conditioning, Badminton, Falls Prevention Class, Swims (Lane, Public, Family, Leisure, Therapy, Parent & Tot, Seniors) and more!
***Please note that the Nick Smith Centre is closed to the public until January 31, however phones will be answers Monday-Friday from 8:30am - 8:00pm and weekends from 10:00am - 2:00pm until we re-open.***
For questions related to minor hockey, ringette, figure skating or non-town operated programs, please reach out directly to that association for further details on their return to operations.
Outdoor Recreation
- Our Lending Hub is currently open providing free use of a selection of snowshoes, cross-country ski sets and hockey skates and helmets. Please email recreation@arnprior.ca or call 613.623.7301 to reserve your equipment.
- The Town has three outdoor rinks for you to enjoy. Please watch for status updates and ice quality reports on the Outdoor Rink page of our website.
COVID Protocols
- Proper screening, physical distancing, masking and hand washing are the key pillars in supporting the safest environment possible at our facility. If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, please stay at home.
- All users entering the Nick Smith Centre must complete and pass the COVID-19 customer screening, contact tracing and provide proof of full vaccination (two doses, plus 14-days) for those 12 years of age and older in order to enter the facility - proof of vaccination must be in the QR code format. You are required to wear a mask at all times, except when engaged in activity and maintain physical distance of 2-meters (6 feet) while in the building.
- Masking is required in all dressing rooms and should only be removed prior to going on the ice. For Pool users, masks are to be worn onto the deck and only removed prior to entry in the pool.
Reminders
- Effective January 4, 2022, Ontario will begin requiring the use of the enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code and the Verify Ontario app in settings where proof of vaccination is required. This certificate with QR Code and support identification will be required for the Nick Smith Centre.
- As of December 20, 2021, youth 12 – 17 years old are required to show proof of vaccination to enter a recreational facility. Note of clarification: For children born in 2010 who are participating in activities that require proof of vaccination, they will be required to provide proof of vaccination 12 weeks after their 12th birthday.
