It's Recreation and Parks Month! Recreation and Parks month is a movement that promotes the benefits of recreation and parks for physical, social, and environmental health. Driven by Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO), communities across the Province have embraced June as Recreation and Parks Month (JRPM) as a way to promote local programs and events, parks and facilities that are available for all citizens to enjoy.

Shinny Memberships
Effective June 1, shinny participants are required to complete an annual waiver which is part of Shinny Membership. This includes all youth shinny (hockey and ringette), as well as adult and seniors shinny participants. Two waivers have been established: one designated for individuals under the age of 16, which a legal guardian must complete, titled "Waiver and Release Form - Shinny for Under 16," and another tailored for adults aged 16 and above, termed "Waiver and Release Form - Shinny for 16 and Over."
By having the Shinny Membership, this ensures that:
This new requirement requires approximately five minutes, and we strongly advise completing the waiver beforehand ensuring prompt access to your ice time. Note that Nick Smith Centre employees are unable to complete waivers on behalf of participants due to the legal nature of the waiver.
Upon successful completion of the waiver, participants regain access to the online registration system for Shinny sessions, our quickest sign-up option. Alternatively, those opting for in-person registration at the front desk should anticipate a slight extension in processing time.
There is no cost to the shinny membership.
This process helps support the paperless operation of this program and supports the Town of Arnprior’s commitment to responsible environmental stewardship and resource management.
