Work is underway to prepare a pair of outdoor rinks in our community. Work at the Sullivan Rink of Dreams at Legion Park and the outdoor rink at Village Creek has commenced with flooding scheduled for the evenings of January 10, 11 and 12, 2023.
The aim is to have ice ready for use this coming weekend on these rinks; however, we ask that the public to monitor the outdoor rinks webpage and the Arnprior Life social media channels for updates on their status. Please also adhere to any signage on-site at these rinks.
Town staff request that the public remain off these surfaces until they officially open to ensure appropriate ice quality to allow for opening.
The current long-range forecast shows unseasonably warm temperatures into next weekend and the weekend of the Optimist Winter Carnival (January 14th, 2023 to January 21st, 2023). We will make all efforts to have the rinks open for that period, but again ask for the public’s cooperation in remaining off these surfaces when they are closed.
As we reach into latter part of January, more favourable temperatures arrive, and we expect these rinks along with those at Caruso Park and Robert Simpson Park should all be operational into the start of February.
Adding to delays from the unseasonably warm weather, the Snowshoe Adventure program and use of snowshoes and cross-country skis through the Lending Hub will be delayed until more suitable snowfall / snow accumulation is available. Events and programs scheduled as part of Wintermission may be postponed, rescheduled or moved indoors. Please visit the Wintermission webpage for future updates.
We appreciate the public’s patience and support in bringing these outdoor rinks and programs online.
