As the long weekend is upon us, we wanted to provide an update on our outdoor public spaces for your enjoyment this weekend.
Robert Simpson Park
- Public Washrooms will open for the season on Saturday, May 20 and are open daily from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
- The splash pad at Robert Simpson Park is now fully operational for the season. The splash pad operates daily from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Sand at the beach has been replenished following the high waters, however the beach is not guarded until July 1 and the buoy line will not be installed until next month. Please use caution when entering waterways/the river as there is still a Flood Watch in place and contaminants/hazards may still be present in the water.
- Beach Bites (the canteen) will open for the season starting June 3 as part of Priorpalooza.
Municipal Marina
- The marina is expected to open for the season on Friday, May 26 for the season. While the boat launch is accessible, the launch docks will not be installed until next week and will officially open with the marina on May 26.
- Beginning May 26, the marina office will operate three days per week (Friday through Sunday) and on holidays with the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. during which time both fuel and pump out services will be available and launch passes will be required. Staff are available for fuel and pump out services by appointment in advance from Monday through Thursday.
Other Park Updates
- The Gillies Trail (waterfront trail) is fully open with the receding of the high water.
- Enjoy a walk, run, bike ride or ATV outing on the Algonquin Trail. 296km crossing three counties for you to travel and explore. Learn more about Off-Road Vehicle use at www.arnprior.ca/orv.
- Ball Diamonds at McLean Park are now ready for the 2023 season.
- Washrooms at McLean Park will open for the season on Saturday, May 20 and are open daily from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. (open later when ball diamonds are rented).
- McLean Beach suffered some washouts during the high water and sand has yet to be replenished. Please use caution when entering waterways/the river as there is still a Flood Watch in place and contaminants/hazards may still be present in the water.
Park Rules
Park Rules, information and hours of operation are posted on signage at all municipal parks. All parks in the Town of Arnprior have the following rules:
- No alcohol, smoking or vaping.
- No camping or overnight parking (including RVs).
- Pets must be kept on their leash.
- No open air burning or charcoal BBQs. Where BBQs are permitted, only CSA approve propane BBQs are allowed.
- No littering or dumping.
- No motor vehicle access inside park space (other than parking lots).
