Grant is part of more than $2.5 million given by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada to public safety organizations.
Arnprior Fire Department members are now better equipped to handle emergencies and keep the local community of Arnprior safe thanks to a grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada. The Foundation recognized our critical need and awarded us $16,942 to purchase a forcible entry training prop and install a standpipe and hose cabinet into our fire station training tower.
“We are extremely grateful to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada and our local Firehouse Subs in Kanata for providing us with this grant and positively impacting our community,” said Fire Chief Rick Desarmia. “We are so grateful to be given the tools needed to continue to aid us in training to keep the citizens of the Town of Arnprior safe and protected.”
The forcible entry prop will be used by firefighters to train gaining access to locked buildings effectively and efficiently with as minimal damage to property as possible.
The standpipe system will be used to train on fire protection systems installed within buildings which provide water supply for firefighting operations. This training is important to the community’s growing number of multi-residential, multi-storey buildings being constructed.
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada has awarded 306 grants to public safety organizations since 2015. This grant is one of 22 Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada awarded to public safety organizations during the most recent grant cycle. The 22 grants will provide critical lifesaving equipment valued at more than $518,000 across Ontario.
