Fatal Structure Fire in Arnprior

At approximately 8:20pm last evening, the Arnprior Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on Elgin Street West in Arnprior.

Upon arrival, one resident was unaccounted for and discovered to be in the building. Suppression and rescue operations began, the fire was extinguished, and the resident was rescued from the building and transported to local hospital and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Three other residents are known to be displaced at this time.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshall, Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Provincial Policy.  No further details are available at this time.

The members of the Arnprior Fire Department wish to express their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
