Arnprior is excited to celebrate local diversity with the return of the Cultural Night Market on Saturday, August 26th from 3 to 10 pm in the downtown core. This year’s market is building on last year’s Cultural Night Market, the brainchild of Arnprior’s Inclusivity and Diversity Advisory Committee, by bringing even more cultural events and activities to Town.
This year’s event is inspired by street markets around the world and the community planning group is actively seeking vendors, artists, performers, and storytellers who identify as Indigenous, Black, Persons of Colour (IBPoC), persons from the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and persons with disabilities.
Applications are now open. The application deadline is June 20th, 2023. Vendor booth fees are $20 (with an additional $56 fee for those without insurance). Nonprofit organizations, charities, and youth vendors are welcome to submit an application and will have their fees waived if approved. Performer and artists rates will be negotiated independently.
“Working with the community planning group for the Cultural Night Market has been inspiring,” says the Town’s new Manager of Culture / Museum Curator, Emily Stovel. “The group is enthusiastic and committed to listening to concerns and recognizing and celebrating community differences. The planning group has been reaching out to local businesses and welcomes ideas and participation from neighbours. I encourage those interested to join one of our working groups or to visit the museum and chat with our staff.”
