Cheryl Grenier shared her concerns regarding the current configuration of the Arnprior Marina parking lot and asked Council to consider how to make it more accessible for boat slip users, particularly those with accessibility needs.
Bill Greise from the 2024 Santa Claus Parade Organizing Committee advised Council that the 2024 Santa Claus Parade will take place on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024. The parade will follow the same route as 2024 and the organizing committee is working to ensure that the event runs smoothly while transitioning the event to Optimist Club of Arnprior in future years.
Council held a statutory public meeting on an application for zoning by-law amendment for 150 Staye Court Drive to reduce the minimum required setback from a Provincial Highway right-of-way for a structure without a foundation from 14 m to 8 m. Comments were received from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation (as outlined in the staff report). Following the public meeting, Council received a staff report on this application and passed a by-law to approve the amendment. Council also acknowledged the property owner’s withdrawal of a second requested amendment related to the front yard setback.
Council received a staff report on the need to refurbish the filter media and underdrains of Filters #1 and #3 at the Water Filtration Plant (WFP) and authorized a by-law to award a project to Anthratech Western Inc. (AWI) in the amount of $443,000 (plus applicable taxes), to be funded from the Water Reserve Fund.
Council adopted the Recreation and Parks Master Plan, prepared by Stantec Consulting Limited, for use as a long-range planning tool and strategy to guide and inform future decisions with respect to the Town’s recreational services that includes facilities, programming, trails and parks.

Council passed a resolution to waive the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall rental fees for the 2024 Arnprior Special Olympics’ Annual General Meeting (AGM). Arnprior Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Their AGM event will take place on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
