Update Waterfront Trail, Legion and Caruso Park
In 2022 the Town of Arnprior was successful in a pair of grant applications under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) –COVID-19 Resilience Stream receiving funding (80% Federal, 20% Provincial) for two outdoor parks. At the November 27th meeting, staff presented Council with an update highlighting the progress of the redeveloped Waterfront Trail, as well as Legion and Caruso Parks upgrades. Caruso Park is now open to the public and Legion Park is expected to open in the Spring of 2024.
Notices of Motion
County Councillor Lynch brought two Notices of Motions forward at the meeting. The first being to support further development of the Arnprior Station Rest Stop along the Algonquin Trail for trail users. Secondly, to formally adopt the naming of the redeveloped waterfront trail as the Gillies Trail, along with two other walking trails, the McLachlin Trail and the Heritage Trail.
Contract Award – Joint Solid Waste Collection Tender
Council approved the award of the Waste Collection Tender to Topps Environmental Solutions in the amount of $430,429.48 (incl. HST) for year one of a five-year contract, and the option to extend for two additional years. If Arnprior is successful in our joint tendering with two additional municipalities, we will receive a $20,000 discount on pricing.
By-Laws & Resolutions
Council passed a By-law for the Annual Occupational Health & Safety Statement which reaffirms their commitment for a healthy and safe workplace for all employees.
Council approved requests from the Community Choir and Valley Concert Band (2024 Music! Music! Music!) to waive the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall rental fees, valued at approx. $350.00;
The Arnprior and Area Physician Recruitment Committee (Doctors Dining Duel) to waive the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall rental fees, valued at approx. $450.00;
The Arnprior Minor Hockey Association (Trivia Night and Dance Fundraiser) to waive the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall rental fees, valued at approx. $450.00.
