Councillor Chris Couper brought forward a notice of motion with respect to Section 14 (Winter Parking Restrictions) of the Town’s Traffic and Parking By-Law. Following discussion, Council directed staff to prepare a report for Spring 2025 regarding the items noted in the Notice of Motion and their potential implications.
Council approved the municipal grants request from Arnprior Special Olympics at 100% of the funding request (approximately $5,408) to support their programming at the Nick Smith Centre Community Pool, McLean Avenue Ball Diamonds and Robert Simpson Park in the 2024/2025 season.
Council received a staff report and enacted a by-law to adopt Zoning By-Law Amendment No. 5/24 to amend the zoning of the subject lands known municipally as 107 Baskin Drive East from Airport Development (“A-D”) to Employment (“EMPL”) designation.
Council adopted the Water and Wastewater Master Plan which will guide the Town’s capital infrastructure planning related to water and wastewater services over the next 20 years. The Master Plan identified and evaluated both existing conditions and future projections to ensure that the Town’s infrastructure has sufficient capacity to absorb growth-related pressures and that the Town is able to plan for infrastructure investments to improve and enhance the municipal potable water distribution system and wastewater collection system.
Council adopted the building condition assessments for the Water Filtration Plant and Water Pollution Control Centre which will help to guide the Town’s decision-making processes regarding maintenance, repair, and replacement priorities for the assets at both facilities.
Council enacted a by-law to amend Development Charges By-Law No. 7369-23 to make minor updates including the addition of costs related to growth-related studies into the Development Charges framework, the amendment of the capital cost definition, and removal of the five-year phase-in of approved rates as permitted by Bill 185 (Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, 2024).
Council adopted a resolution to waive the user fees associated with the Arnprior Community Choir and Valley Concert Band’s 2025 “Music! Music! Music!” event which will be held on March 1st, 2025 at the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall.
