Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce (UOVCC)
Council received a delegation from the Executive Director of the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce, Kelly Hollihan. The Arnprior Chamber of Commerce reached out to the UOVCC a year ago as it was ceasing operations, and the process has been underway since then to have the Arnprior membership join the UOVCC members. Ms. Hollihan outlined the Chamber’s mission and operational activities for the business community in the region in order to develop and grow their working relationship with the town toward shared goals in economic development. Upcoming events include the Ottawa Valley Business Summit on April 11th and the Business Excellence Awards Gala on September 27th. More information can be found at upperottawavalleychamber.com.
Zoning By-law 1/25- Fourth Avenue at McNab Street
A Public Meeting, report to Council and by-law were considered by Council for a zoning amendment application for property located at Fourth Avenue and McNab Street. The purpose of the proposed amendment to Comprehensive Zoning By-law 6875-18 is to:
The amendments would allow construction of a 4-storey, 14.3 m tall, apartment building with 203 units as proposed. The subject lands are also the subject of a site plan application (File No. SPC 8/24). Council passed the required by-law.
Provincial Gas Tax – Transit Funding
Council supported a by-law for annual support for the Arnprior-Braeside-McNab Seniors at Home Program Inc. transit program and for the municipality to receive and be responsible for Dedicated Gas Tax Funds from the Province of Ontario for said program. Council budgeted $15,500 as the Town’s contribution towards the funding required to maintain the transit program in 2025.
Resolutions
Council passed the following resolutions:
That Council approve the recommendation from the Culture and Diversity Advisory Committee recommends to Council that training be procured for Town staff, CDAC members and Council on fostering nation-to-nation-discussions with Indigenous Peoples.
That Council directs staff increase the number of Canadian flags that are flying within the Town to join others in showing the world that the Town of Arnprior is Canada Strong.
Council agreed to authorize the sale of the Bert Hall Arena rinkboards and frame to the Township of Admanston/Bromely.
