Earth Day 2023
Town Council proclaimed April 22nd, 2023 to be Earth Day in the Town of Arnprior and encouraged all residents to participate in the Earth Day activities and to learn more about their role in helping to combat climate change and make a positive impact on the environment on Earth Day and every day.
Pitch-In Week will run from April 17th to 22nd, with Park Clean-up Kits available at the Nick Smith Centre for those who would like to lend a hand in beautifying our parks and trails. Other community events include the Earth Day Bike BINGO on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 and the Rotary Club Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup.
Park Updates and Public Engagement
Council received a presentation on the ongoing park designs for Legion Park and Caruso Park as well as the Waterfront trail improvements. Residents are encouraged to submit feedback on the proposed designs using the Town’s online engagement portal (ZenCity). Resident feedback can be submitted until April 21st, 2023.
Request for Concurrence – Rogers Communications Tower Proposal
Council received a report on the proposed Rogers Communications Tower proposal for 158A McGonigal Street which included a Land Use Authority Recommendations Report. Town Council will be providing a statement of non-concurrence to oppose the project as it has been presented. This statement will be provided to the approval authority, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) as they complete their review of the proposal.
2023-2025 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan
Town Council adopted the revised 2023-2025 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan which confirms that the Town is compliant with all legislated accessibility regulations under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) and set further goals for the Town to consider as it moves forward through the annual budget process and other long-term planning projects.
CIP Grant for 55 John Street North
Town Council approved a Community Improvement Program (CIP) grant to Mallard’s Milk Bar to assist with their location and start-up costs at a new location at 55 John Street North.
Proclamation for 911 Dispatcher Appreciation Week
Town Council adopted a proclamation for 911 Dispatcher Appreciation Week and encouraged all residents to reflect on the important role that 911 dispatchers play to ensure the safety of local residents and their families every day.
