FAMFEST on February 19th, 2024
Council was updated on the upcoming Annual Famfest being held February 19th, 2024. Famfest is a fun-filled day including the Lion’s Club Pancake Breakfast, swimming, skating, face painting, balloon twisting, crafting, a snowman building competition, Sledge Hockey “Try-It”, a Magic Show with Kevin Smith Magic and ending the day with a free 2:00pm Arnprior Packers Game. Water Filtration Plant - Filter #2 Media and Underdrain Replacement
Council awarded a capital project for the refurbishment of Filter #2 at the Water Filtration Plant (WFP), including the supply and installation of new Phoenix Underdrain Laterals, feedboxes and optimized filter media in the amount of $223,970.00 to Anthratech Western Inc. (AWI).
Elevator Rescue – Fire Department
Council adopted a by-law to include “Elevator Rescue” at the “Operations Level” in the list of approved Fire Department core services.
By-laws
Council passed the following By-laws:
- By-law Number 7460-24 – Appointment of Kaila Zamojski as Town Clerk
- By-law Number 7461-24 – Adopt the 2024 Operating and Capital Budgets
- By-law Number 7462-24 – Adopt the 2023 Works In Progress (WIP)
- By-law Number 7463-24 – Adopt the 2024 User Fees and Charges Bylaw
- By-law Number 7464-24 – Amend By-Law No. 7102-20 (Elevator Rescue)
- By-law Number 7465-24 – Authorize WFP Filter Media and Underdrain Replacement

Community Grants
The 2024 Operating Budget included a number of community grants including:
- Arnprior Public Library grant of $321,515 which includes funding for an additional Community Librarian position;
- Arnprior and McNab/Braeside Archives grant of $26,225 for annual operations;
- Arnprior Regional Health Foundation CT Scanner campaign support of $50,000;
- Senior’s Active Living Centre grant of $12,500 and $7,500 of in-kind services;
- Arnprior Airport conditional grant of $55,000 for annual operations; and
- Municipal Grant program grant funds of $10,000 to cover in-year requests under the Municipal Grant program for eligible recipients.
Proclamations and Resolutions
- Council proclaimed February 28, 2024 as Rare Disease Day in the Town of Arnprior.
- Council approved a request from the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County for waiving the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall rental fees for the Daisy Café Pilot Program to be held weekly on Wednesday afternoons between April 10th, 2024 and May 29th, 2024.
- Council approved the 20 Year Long Range Capital Forecast (2025-2044) as a financial planning tool, to be used to inform the annual budget process, as well as, other financial planning processes and documents.
