Duskin Dorken, President and Governor of the Junior B Arnprior Packers, and Donovan Welk, Co-Owner of the Junior B Arnprior Packers, provided a verbal presentation on the organization, its contribution to the Greater Arnprior community and requested continued engagement in the Nick Smith Centre Arena Revitalization project.
Watson and Associates Economists Ltd presented a summary of the Water and Wastewater Rate Study which is a long-range planning document that guides the financing of water and wastewater expenditures. The Rate Study which proposes 7% combined annual increases for water and wastewater rates over the next 10 years will be brought forward for Council consideration and adoption in early 2025.
Council received an update regarding the 2024 World Juniors event logistics which included details regarding event activities, parking options, and shuttle details. More information will be made available at www.arnprior.ca/wjc.
Council held a public meeting regarding application for an amendment to Zoning By-law No. 6875-18 for land legally described as McNab Concession A, Part of Lot 5 to allow construction of a sales office / model home prior to draft plan approval. A staff report and by-law will be brought forward at the January 13th, 2025 Regular Meeting of Council for Council’s consideration.
Council received a staff report and adopted by-laws to amend the Town’s Official Plan and Zoning By-Law to bring these key planning documents into conformity with recent provincial legislation including Bill 23, Bill 109 and Bill 185. These amendments are contingent upon formal approval by the approval authority (County of Renfrew).
Council approved the Town of Arnprior’s 2024 Accessibility Status Report and directed that it be posted onto the municipal website. The annual Accessibility Status Report is required under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and it outlines how the Town continues to be in full compliance with the Act and continues to work to mitigate/eliminate barriers for persons with disabilities across Town programs, services and facilities.
In addition to the above noted by-laws, Council adopted by-laws for the 2024 Occupational Health and Safety Statement, the appointment of Cunningham, Swam, Carty, Little and Bonham LLP as Integrity Commissioner and Closed Meeting Investigator for the Town of Arnprior (2025 to 2028), the authorization of a Transfer Payment Agreement related to the Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund (HEWSF) Grant and the appointment of Lauren Vincent as Deputy Treasurer.
