Senior Women Living Together Delegation
Council received information about the non-profit organization, Senior Women Living Together. This group helps senior women find compatible home mates and then create successful shared living arrangements in rental housing. They also help arrange rentals through partnering with private landlords and real estate investors.
Encroachment By-law
Council passed a by-law to permit the encroachment of an awning over the Town’s sidewalk at 80 John Street North.
Municipal Grant – 2360 Royal Canadian Army Cadets
Council approved grant request to a waive the user fees and charges for the 2360 Royal Canadian Army Cadets request for the use of the Nick Smith Centre Community Hall on Thursday evenings (from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) on thirty-four (34) dates and for two (2) weekend rentals (Saturday or Sunday) for the period of September 5, 2024 to June 19, 2025.
Statue at Malloch Road Cemetery
Council authorized the temporary removal of the Malloch Road Cemetery statue for offsite repairs. The statue will be relocated onto a new base once repairs have been complete. The repairs and relocation be funded from the Cemetery operating budget at a projected cost of $13,488, less estimated contributions of $5,000.00 from local Catholic organizations.
Updates to Traffic and Parking By-law
Council had requested staff to review of the Traffic and Parking By-Law No. 6357-14, in particular Section 14 regarding winter parking restrictions, and report back to Council, prior to the next winter season, with possible modifications and/or accommodations for conditional overnight winter parking in the Town of Arnprior. A revised by-law was presented to Council for consideration and comment. Proposed changes to the By-law include:

The revised by-law would come into effect on November 15th, 2024, pending Ontario Court of Justice approval of set fines for the Traffic and Parking By-law, under the Provincial Offences Act. The by-law is anticipated to be before Council before the end of September.
Terry Fox Day Proclaimed and Fees Waived
Council proclaimed September 15th, 2024 as "Terry Fox Day" in the Town of Arnprior and approved a request for in-kind support through the waiving of rental fees for the Robert Simpson Park Gazebo for the 2024 Terry Fox Run event.
Resolution – Family Physician and Primary Health Care Professional Shortage
Council supported a resolution to urge the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario to recognize the family physician and primary health care professional shortage in the Town of Arnprior, County of Renfrew and across Ontario, and take action to fund health care appropriately, ensuring that every Ontarian has access to high quality and accessible primary care services in their own communities.
