Fireworks Safety |
To minimize the risk of fire and burn injury, the Arnprior Fire Department does not recommend family fireworks or informal neighbourhood displays. We recommend attending public fireworks displays hosted by your municipality or other responsible organizations.
If you do still choose to have a family or an informal neighbourhood firework display, check with your local municipality about regulations regarding fireworks.
Here are some important safety tips to be followed:

Boating Safety
|
The Canadian Safe Boating Council promotes these five key boating safety messages directed towards the most common boating related accidents. They include:
1. Wear a lifejacket. 2. Boat sober. 3. Be prepared. Both you and your boat. 4. Take a boating course. 5. Be aware of cold-water risks. A reminder that all boats are to remain behind the Fire Boat if they are watching the Canada Day fireworks display from the Madawaska River. |
Water Safety |
This past weekend, The Town of Arnprior trained and certified 12 of their aquatic team in National Lifeguard – Waterfront. During this 20-hour course the staff developed a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, and a mature and responsible attitude towards their waterfront role. The training emphasizes prevention and effective rescue response in emergencies including first aid treatment. Staff developed additional teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. Fitness requirements include a timed 300 m run-swim-tow and a 50 m swim wearing fins.
Robert Simpson Park Beach is open and lifeguarded daily Monday to Friday from 11:00am-6:00pm.
