The Town of Arnprior has launched a new online portal, through the City Reporter software, that will provide greater flexibility and accessibility for local residents and their contractors during the building permit process. The online portal allows residents to create an account, submit building permit applications, check the status of submitted applications, request inspections, and pay for building permit fees. With the online permitting option, the building permit process is more convenient, streamlined and environmentally friendly for local residents.
Applications can be submitted through the online portal or in-person at Town Hall (105 Elgin Street West, Arnprior, ON K7S 0A8). All submissions will still be required to be complete applications, including all necessary information and supporting documentation.
Once received, Town staff will complete a review of the application to confirm that it is complete and may request additional documentation from the applicant. Through the portal, applicants will be able to see the status of their application(s) and any required next steps online from anywhere and at any time.
Building permits will be issued electronically and applicants will be able to submit payment through the online portal for permit fees up to $2,000.00. Permits in excess of $2,000.00 will continue to be issued in-person at Town Hall. Following payment, applicants will receive their approved permits and drawings (where applicable) that can be downloaded, saved and printed.
This is a positive step towards creating greater flexibility for the submission, review and issuance of building permits. This initiative also speaks to Council’s 2019-2023 Strategic Plan where it provides for “open, exceptional and highly effective customer service delivery where our residents feel included in the process and decisions being made”.
