Road construction season is ramping up in the Town of Arnprior! The below project timelines are currently anticipated for 2022, however please be advised that schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, changes in the provision of materials and/or availability of staff.
The Town of Arnprior asks for everyone’s help in ensuring safe and efficient work zones. We encourage residents to avoid all construction zones, however, should residents be travelling within the construction zones we urge you to proceed with caution and follow the directions provided by traffic control personnel and posted construction signage.

Ida Street and Norma Street Dead End Resurfacing (Between Algonquin Trail and Elgin Street)
Cavanagh Construction, as part of the 2022 Road Reconstruction project, will be resurfacing the dead ends of Ida Street and Norma Street from Elgin Street W to the dead end at the Algonquin Trail. Both streets will have improvements made to the road sub base to ensure longevity of the new road surface. New curbs will also be constructed on both streets, followed by a fresh asphalt surface. Work is anticipated to begin in June and be complete by October 15th 2022.
Hugh Street South Reconstruction
Beginning in May 2022, Cavanagh Construction will be reconstructing Hugh Street South from William Street to the dead end. The project will include replacement of the water main, sanitary sewer, road base, road surface, curb and sidewalk. The existing sidewalk on the side of the road with even addresses will be replaced with a curb only, while the odd numbered side of the street will be reinstated with sidewalk. This work is to be completed by October 15th, 2022.
Craig Street Reconstruction
Beginning in May 2022, Cavanagh Construction will be reconstructing Craig Street from William Street to Mary Street. The project will include replacement of the water main, sanitary sewer, part of the storm sewer, road base, road surface, curb and sidewalk. The existing sidewalk on the side of the road with even addresses will be replaced with a curb only, while the odd numbered side of the street will be reinstated with sidewalk. This work is to be completed by October 15th, 2022
Alicia Street Reconstruction (Division Street to McLachlin Street)
Primrose Cartage and Excavating will be returning this spring to complete warranty repairs to the sidewalks and landscaping, as well as to install the top lift of asphalt.
Resurfacing of County Road 1 Madawaska Street (John to Elgin)
The County of Renfrew will be tendering the resurfacing of Madawaska Street between John Street and Elgin Street for construction in late summer. The anticipated start date for the project is August 22nd, 2022, and includes resurfacing of the street as well as repairs to the curbs and sidewalks.
