The Town of Arnprior Zoning By-law regulates land use and implements the Official Plan. For each zone, there are specific regulations you will need to follow.
The Zoning By-law addresses the:
The General Provisions and Parking and Loading Standards apply to all properties in the Town. Other standards are specific to the zone your property is located in.
To determine how your property is zoned, locate your property on Schedule “A”. Once you have the zoning, find the corresponding section in the By-law. In the By-law you will find the permitted uses and zone provisions (e.g. maximum height, setbacks).
For example, if your property is zoned R1, you will find the regulations for the R1 zone in Section 6.5 of the By-law. The general provisions and parking standards also apply.
If there is an asterisk (*) beside the zone on Schedule “A”, there are specific regulations that apply to the property. Table 10.1 in the By-law lists the site specific standards.
If there is an H beside the zone on Schedule “A” there is a holding symbol on the property. Holding symbols are required to be “lifted” by Council prior to permitting uses on the property. Table 12.1 in the By-law lists the holding provisions. Learn how to apply to lift the holding symbol.
If your project does not comply with the Zoning By-law, you will need to apply for an amendment. A rezoning must conform to the Town's Official Plan policies. Learn how to apply for a zoning by-law amendment.
The Committee of Adjustment considers applications for minor variances to the Town's Zoning By-law. Learn how to apply for a minor variance.
A zoning and building compliance letter outlines the zoning and building information for a property. This information is requested by landowners or potential purchasers of the property. Submit requests to the Planning Department along with the required fee. Staff typically respond to requests within two weeks; this make take longer during peak development season.
