Economic Development is a key priority in the Town’s 2024 Strategic Plan. The Town conducted a Retail Demand study in 2014 that outlined a number of recommendations including completing an industrial gap study. The majority of the recommendations have been completed to date.
The Town has contracted the services of Fotenn and Shore-Tanner & Associates to complete a Business Retention and Expansion Study with a focus on Employment and tourism which will address the remaining recommendations from the 2014 study and provide the Town with updated economic development data for growth and attraction efforts.
The purpose of this review is to evaluate the Town’s current business economy in its entirety and make improvements that would allow the Town to continue to help build a foundation for economic growth and sustainable development. The Project will engage local leadership, businesses, Town Staff and the general public. This project is being made possible by funding from Ontario’s Rural Economic Development (RED) program.
