Open to all ages of Youth Club (4-13), this afterschool program promotes physical activity with free play and organized games. While open to all ages, Recreation Staff are on hand and creating programming for different ages to ensure safety and maintain interest among all participants. Capacity limits apply for this program so be sure to register ahead of time.
* - Those attending the Monday program who are students of St. John XXIII may stay at the school under the supervision of our Recreation Staff until the program begins at 3:30pm. Staff will be in the gym at the final bell as coordinated with the school. This program will typically be unstructured and the children in attendance will have the opportunity to play a role in how they wish to shape the program. Staff will provide additional equipment and support to make this possible. Exclusion date: October 14.
** - No transportation will be provided for the Wednesday program. Parents/guardians are responsible for drop off and pick up of the program. Participants may come without parent/guardian but this must be communicated prior. This program will incorporate a combination of structured and unstructured activities. Additionally, staff will be available to help students with homework. Exclusion dates: September 18, November 6 and December 18.
*** - This afterschool program will have our staff meet participants at the final bell at both Walter Zadow Public School and St. Joseph's Elementary School and walk to the museum. Should you register in this program, you must contact the school each day you register for to notify them that your child is attending this program and permitted to be picked up by our staff at the end of the day. This program is more structured as children in attendance discover more about the museum curriculum (ie. history, geography, science, art…) as it is incorporated into the fun.
For either day, should your plans change and your child no longer be attending our program, please contact recreation@arnprior.ca to notify us of this change. This information is extremely important for coordinating pickup from the schools.

Can I still register my child for these programs if I don't join Youth Club? |
Select programs are available to register for without the membership. Junior Youth Nights, Youth Nights, Craft Programs and Sledge Hockey are all available to register for without joining Youth Club. Afterschool Programs are restricted to Youth Club members. |
Can I still attend these events without a Youth Club membership? |
Events are open to anyone, with or without a membership. |
What happens if a program I would like to register for has hit capacity? |
Should a program that you wish to register for reach capacity and prompt you to join a waitlist, please join to indicate this is a program in which we should look to expand capacity. As this is a pilot program, we continue to review program resources, capacity and offerings to best suit the needs of the community. |
How is this program possible? |
This program is made possible by funding from the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities. Their funding has covered the cost of equipment investment in the program as well as staffing costs. We are using feedback from this pilot to create a sustainable model for future Youth Club programming. |
If I register for a program and can no longer attend, what should I do? |
If you can no longer attend a registered program, please contact recreation@arnprior.ca or call the Nick Smith Centre at 613.623.7301. This information is important for attendance and safety of the registered individuals. |
