New Session About to Start!
The November/December program is right around the corner! Join us in the next Preschool Explorers program.

Welcome to Preschool Explorers! Formerly called the Little Peoples Program, this program is designed to provide social interaction to those aged 2+ before they head off to school. Running exclusively out of the Nick Smith Centre, we are equipped with lots of toys, books, crafts, and music supplies to provide fun and engaging programming each session.

All sessions run out of the Community Hall at the Nick Smith Centre. You may register for all three days or just one or two if you wish. There is also discounting for those who register for multiple days.

What do we do during the program?

Arts & Crafts

A preschool classic, arts and crafts often follow a theme of the season. We've done Valentine's Day crafts, Mother's and Father's Day, Easter, Christmas and many more! You'll be sure to have lots of creations to pin to the fridge.

Active Play

With loads of toy cars, climbers, slides, balls and more, there will be lots of active time for the little ones to burn some energy. There is time allotted for free play and time for more structured play to embrace both creativity with team work and collaboration.

Music and Dance

Music speaks to many so that's a big part of our program. With dance parties and freeze dance in the schedule and little instruments to make your own music to, there is sure to be a wonderful sound to Preschool Explorers.

Outdoor Play

Running programming out of a recreational facility has its' perks. We are fortunate to have a playstructure on site that we frequently visit as well as a large piece of grass that we can do activities on. Of course, outdoor play is weather dependent

Snack Time

The growing kids need a snack so we always make sure to allow snack time during the session. We require parents to pack nut-free snacks and notify us of any allergies to ensure the safety of all participants.

Story Time

Who doesn't love a good story? There are many books on hand to provide a quieter, slower paced story time during the session. Kids can help select which story they want to hear.

Where does this program happen?

We have a large Community Hall in the Nick Smith Centre that provides us a safe and secure area to run these activities.

With bathrooms right in the hall area, we are able to run frequent trips. We store our equipment in this room as well which means for full supervision even during activity changeover.

What are the requirements for this program?

Each child must be:

2-years-old
Toilet trained

If your child is in the process of being toilet trained we can accept the registration. Please note that staff may instruct children on what to do in the bathroom but they will not physically assist them or change a mess. In the case of an accident, parents will be called.

How do I register?

Registration can be completed online or in-person at the Nick Smith Centre. Either way, you will require an account with us. If you've registered for swimming lessons or any other Town program at the Nick Smith Centre, you have an account.

Do I have to register for each day?

No, you can register for only one or two days a week if you choose. There is discounting for registering for multiple days but you can register for any combination of days that you choose.
