Program Facilitator/Interpreter For the “My Story, My Tattoo” Travelling Exhibit

Posting Date: January 13th, 2017
Job Type: Fixed-Term (14 weeks to commence February 1st)
Work Location: Arnprior & District Museum
Reports to: Museum Curator
Hourly Wage: $17.00/hr
Hours of Work: Normal work hours shall be 35 hours per week.

The Town of Arnprior has an exciting opportunity at the Arnprior & District Museum for a Facilitator/Interpreter to lead and coordinate a travelling exhibit of “My Story, My Tattoo” from the Wellington County Museum and Archives. The exhibit will run from February 1st to May 3rd and will be a feature for our March break program looking at tattoos as an art form, tattoos throughout history, aboriginal tattoos. The interpreter will provide an interactive henna tattoo activity for participants. The main responsibility of the Facilitator/Interpreter will be to promote the exhibits, interpret the exhibits through researching and collaboration with museum staff, and to organize class school tours. The successful candidate shall enjoy working with children and persons of all ages, have previous experience promoting and facilitating similar instructional activities, possess general knowledge of the Town of Arnprior & District heritage and culture, be experienced with computers and be efficient in coordinating multiple demands, schedules, and people.

Summer Students

The Town of Arnprior is currently inviting students to apply for 2017 Summer Student Employment Opportunities. There a number of positions available over the summer months (May to September) as outlined below in various departments/interests including public works, parks, recreation services (Camp Wanago), Town’s Clerk Office, Museum and Library summer activity programs.

Eligibility:
To be considered for hire, students must be:

  • At least 16 years of age or older;
  • Enrolled in a secondary or post-secondary program on a full-time basis; and
  • Returning to school on a full-time basis following their summer employment.

Conditional Requirements:

  • For positions working with children (i.e. position C, D, E, F, G, N and O) a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check must be completed prior to hire;
  • For positions with access to Town vehicles (Position I, J, K, L and M), the student must have a valid “G” driver’s license in good standing. (i.e. G1 and/or G2 licenses are not acceptable.)

Students are welcome to apply for more than one (1) summer position, however, you must specify each position you are applying for within your application (i.e. Position A, B, C, etc.).
