Fire Chief

Work Location: Fire Hall (67 Meehan Street)
Reports to: CAO
Salary: $82,660 to $97,248 (Grade 13);
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Fire Chief is responsible to perform the statutory duties of Fire Chief under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act including the duties of an assistant to the Fire Marshal, in accordance with provincial statutes and applicable Municipal By-laws. The Fire Chief is a natural leader and team builder who leads through active engagement, collaboration and a spirit of inclusivity at all levels of the Fire Service and with Town staff. The Fire Chief will have a sound appreciation for the challenges faced by small municipalities, and will have the skills needed to develop realistic and innovative solutions.
Primary areas of responsibility include managing and directing the delivery of fire and emergency services including code enforcement, fire safety inspections, fire prevention, fire suppression and rescue, fire investigation, public fire safety education, training, facility and equipment maintenance, and emergency planning and response.

Employment Opportunity – Marina Dock Hand & Gasoline Attendant(s)

Date of Notice: March 16th, 2017
Work Location: Marina (14 Marina Way)
Position Type: Seasonal Full-Time, Unionized (CUPE LOCAL 4960)
Hours of Work: 84 hours bi-weekly
Hourly Wage: $11.40/hr

This seasonal position will provide full-time coverage for the Marina Facilities until mid-May to mid-October 2017 (subject to change with the season). During the season the Marina is open to the public Monday to Sunday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor within the Recreation Department the Marina Dock Hand & Gasoline Attendant will provide customer service to the general public and seasonal/transient users by answering general inquiries and assisting users with the services of the Marina; performing daily inspections of Marina grounds, surrounding waterfront areas, property and facilities, and undertake minor repairs, painting and maintenance as required; performing weekly yard work, including but not limited to garbage collection, weeding, and trimming, lawn cutting and other related maintenance. There a number of positions available over the summer months (May to September) for students in various departments/interests including public works, parks, recreation services (Camp Wanago), Town’s Clerk Office, Museum and Library summer activity programs.

Applications are no longer being accepted for the 2017 summer student positions. Please check back in February 2018 for the 2018 positions.
