Advent Calendar

December 1st National Giving Day –Do something nice for someone – donate to the foodbank or make and give some Christmas treats. At this time of giving, we wish to acknowledge the official opening of the Sullivan Rink of Dreams. Through generous donations to the Town from the Ottawa Gatineau Youth Foundation, Optimist Club, Sullivan’s and the many sponsors and supports that made this new facility a reality for our community. Be sure to stop by Legion Park and enjoy this wonderful new feature to our town.

December 3rd– Read your favourite Christmas storybook – check out the Arnprior Library for suggestions and tell us know what your favourite book is on our Facebook Page. 

December 4th Use your imagination and build a fort. Inside or outside, but make it epic!! Share photos of your forts to recreation@arnprior.ca We will share your fort building skills on our Facebook page, Arnprior Life

December 5th– Take your family on a holiday light tour through town. Walk or drive! Be sure your house is decked out in its holiday finest and then enter our Christmas Lights Contest. For contest entry details and maps click here

December 6th Go to the pool for Family Swimming- reserve online at www.arnprior.ca/registration

December 7th– Make festive shaped Sugar Cookies and be sure to save some for Santa! Click here for a recipe. Send us your favourite Christmas cookie recipe along with some photos of your finished cookies and we’ll share the festive yumminess on our Facebook page, Arnprior Life.

December 8th– Family Board Game night. Share your photos of family game night to recreation@arnprior.ca and let us know what your family’s favourite game is on our Facebook Page.

December 9th– Make and give a homemade Christmas card to someone special. Click here for some great card ideas.

December 10th– Get those Ugly Christmas Sweaters Ready! The Penny Stashick Ugly Sweater Walk continues for a third year – this time it’s a virtual edition. This year they’ll be judging the worst dressed contest online, so head out for your walk between December 5 – 12, and make sure to snap some pics and post them to their Facebook Page www.facebook.com/uglysweaterwalk/ or Twitter (@uglysweaterwalk) or on instagram at @pennysuglysweaterwalk. May the ugliest sweater win!

December 11thSnowy Day Scavenger Hunt- head outside to find the items on our list or make up your own. Click Here for the Scavenger Hunt

December 15thWatch your favourite Christmas movie and make popcorn too!! Our favourite classic is The Grinch, and our favourite new one this year is Christmas on Wheels, but we may be biased as it was shot here in Arnprior! What’s your favourite classic? Let us know on our Facebook Page

December 16thMake a paper chain for your Christmas tree! Get some inspiration here.

December 17th– Family meal prep. What’s cooking in your kitchen tonight? Share your photos and recipes here! recreation@arnprior.ca

December 18thGo sledding at your favourite hill. If there is no snow, have an outdoor Christmas ornament hunt. Like an Easter Egg hunt but with a Christmas twist! Collect the ornaments in your Christmas Stocking.

December 19th– – Make hot chocolate from scratch with the help of an adult. Click here to learn how.   

December 20th Go skating with your family at the Nick Smith Centre- 2:30 pm or 3:30 pm.  Register online here.

December 21st– Head outdoors for a hike on your favourite trail. Check out the Grove, The McNamara Trail or the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail. Count the birds and animals you see along the way. Share photos of your hike to recreation@arnprior.ca and we’ll share them to our Facebook page, Arnprior Life.

December 22nd– Make snow paint and colour up your yard for the holiday! Click here to learn how to make it.
