Black History Month 2021 Poster Colouring Contest
Every February, people in Canada are invited to participate in Black History Month festivities and events that honour the legacy of Black Canadians and their communities. The Town of Arnprior has also proclaimed February Black History Month in Arnprior.
This year’s theme for Black History Month is “The Future is Now”, a call to action for us all to build on the legacy of those who came before us, and to recognize the transformative work that Black Canadians and their communities are doing now.
This year’s Black History Month poster includes Adinkra visual symbols originating in West Africa, that represent concepts which can vary in meaning. These symbols can also can be used to communicate a unique expression of African heritage. Click here to see the literal and symbolic meanings of each symbol found in the poster.
How to enter:
We want to see your Black History Month Poster! Colour in this years Black History Month Poster then write your name, phone number and age on the back of it and drop it off at the Nick Smith Centre or for a contactless option place in the front door mail slot at Town Hall by March 1st.
We will be hanging the posters at the Nick Smith Centre and drawing a winner at the end of the month for a prize!
You can also pick up a copy at the Nick Smith Centre or Town Hall front counters.
