Official Plan Review
The Town of Arnprior is currently reviewing its Official Plan, the Town’s key policy document intended to guide planning, land use and growth management. Like the Provincial Policy Statement, the Official Plan is also intended to support the goal of enhancing the quality of life for Arnprior inhabitants by offering a framework for comprehensive, integrated, place-based and long-term planning that supports and integrates the principles of strong communities, a clean and healthy environment and economic growth, for the long term. The current Official Plan review is being undertaken to comply with the Planning Act and to be consistent with and implement Provincial and County plans and policy. This review is also an opportunity to ensure that The Town of Arnprior’s Official Plan reflects the needs and aspirations of our community.
At the July 10th meeting of Council the New Arnprior Official plan was passed by Council and is now under review by the County of Renfrew.
An Official Plan should be designed to meet the unique needs of its communities. The review of the Official Plan will be undertaken with these unique needs in mind.
The Official Plan Review is an opportunity for the Town and the public to engage in a meaningful way, by building relationships and promoting an understanding of planning, growth and sustainability issues. Through the review of the Official Plan, members of the public can choose to be involved upfront in the planning process. As a result, the public can help to influence the goals, objectives and policies that are contained in the Official Plan.
The Official Plan Review is an undertaking that will include and welcome input from all community stakeholders.
