The Committee of Adjustment and Property Standards Committee considers applications under the Planning Act, as well as appeals under the Property Standards By-law. Meetings

Meetings of the Committee of Adjustment and Property Standards Committee occur as needed to consider applications and/or appeals. Please check the Calendar of Council and Committee Meetings to find out when the next meeting is. You are also able to explore past and present meeting agenda packages and minutes.

Council and Committee meetings are open to the public. Some hearings may be confidential, and thus not open to the public. Learn more about how to attend a Council or Committee meeting.

Membership

Council appoints one (1) member of Council and four (4) members of the public to the Committee of Adjustment and Property Standards Committee.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Committee of Adjustment and Property Standards Committee is responsible for ensuring the Town of Arnprior is in compliance with the Planning Act as well as the Property Standards By-law.

The Committee, when acting as the Committee of Adjustment, consider applications for:

• Consent
• Minor variances
• Legal non-conforming uses

The Committee, when acting as the Property Standards Committee, hears appeals to orders issued by a municipal by-law enforcement officer regarding violations under the:

• Property Standards By-law
• Ontario Building Code

The Town Planner is the staff advisor and recording secretary for the Committee of Adjustment. The Town Clerk or designate, and a By-law Enforcement Officer are the staff advisors for the Property Standards Committee.
